Kamonyi continues to shine in Mindsky Rugby national league

Kamonyi Pumas have been firing on all cylinders this season with three out of four wins in the Southern Province rugby league. According to coach/player, nizeyimana alex, the Pumas are having “the best season ever.”

kamonyi Pumas have been firing on all cylinders this season with two win out of  three of the the first round  in the Southern Province rugby league.

The second round of the mindsky Rugby national league continued this weekend in the Puma kamonyi defeated Muhanga thunders  6 -0 on sunday 15/07/2018 at remera rukoma ground.

The puma kamonyi-based side are second in the Southern Province League with 12 points, 6 behind leaders Resilience RFC, who got free points away to Ur grizlies when the host failed to show up on the ground

Nizeyimana, 31, who also doubles coach player, says, last year, the club turned to developing students from neighbouring schools like GS Remera Rukomo, G.S Bugoba and G.S ASPEKA Kayenzi. Aspeka won the amashuru kagame cup and it will represent  Rwanda in eastern African games  the victory continues to bring confidence in most of young player in our team

Some of these student-players participated in this year’s inter-school tournament in final from the 1st to 2nd july both Muhanga  and puma kamonyi young  payers  will represent Rwanda  inthe regional FEASSA Games in August.

“When they play at school level it motivates them to play in the league too,” says Nizeyimana. Among the youngsters, who have impressed this season, is prop  Rugwiro Olivier, .

Pumas which was formed in 2006 by players from neighbouring schools, has had poor showings in the league and have been the punching bag, only managing a few narrow wins over their Southern Province counterparts, U.R Grizzlies and Muhanga RFC over the years.

The Pumas travel to face Ur grizlies this weekend,resilience will travel to face muhanga thunders to which will be a tough fixture for the visitors,in Kigali league Kigali sharks will clash Thousand hills in gatenga, while Remera buffaloes will face lion de fer at utexrwa .

Rwanda Rugby Federation

The Rwanda Rugby Federation (RRF) as the umbrella organisation that unites the entire rugby fraternity in Rwanda. RRF has been administering, developing and generally organising all rugby activities since 2002, not only through out Rwanda but on the continental level as well. The RRF has since grown further countrywide with over 800 active players, 300 female players, a robust fun club, ardent well wishers and intensive involvement in the development of the game in over 240 schools from all districts in Rwanda not to mention the RRF’s participation in community projects.
