Rwandan Rugby has been very grateful for the support of Penguins Rugby Club. Visit their website to find out more about this fantastic charity.
Penguin International Rugby Football Club are the world’s greatest touring team, set up to foster the game of rugby football club, and are delighted to have been supporting Rwandan Rugby since 2010.
A first visit by the Penguins Coaching academy including CEO Craig Brown and ex Scotland coach Frank Hadden 2010 led to a meet up in 2011 between the Silverbacks and the King Penguins (the Over 35s team of the Penguins) at the Kowloon 10s tournament in Hong Kong.
This brought a pledge by the King Penguins to visit, which was finally achieved in 2014 with a memorable tour including a match v the Silverbacks at the Amahoro Stadium, which was won in the last minute by the Silverbacks 22-19 (at roughly half of the KPs age).
Several coaching sessions were held and lots of kit donated, and some lifelong friendships made. The visit coincided with the start of funding from the Penguins Charitable Trust to support Rwandan Rugby’s administration which continues with the funding of Livingston the Chief Administrator. The KPs have also continued to offer financial support via donations to Friends of Rwandan Rugby.
