From 15th to 18yh October 2015, the Rwanda Rugby Federation in partnership with the Rugby Afrique, World Rugby, MINISPOC and the Olympic Committee, organized a four days workshop at Amahoro stadium where 12 coaches were trained about GIR as well as the new program which will be adapted by different Unions including RRF called “I also play referee” and 9 coaches were trained for level 2 which require them to work and conduct different training sessions and will be assessed for 6 weeks in order to be certified. The workshop went well and was conducted by Erick SITUMA from Kenya, he is the regional development officer (RDO) and a World rugby educator. Coaches where amazed by how much they learned within this period of time and as most of them said that they will take the knowledge back to their teams and/or schools. They also agreed that they will create social media groups where they can interact and exchange ideas on coaching. This will help them grow their game knowledge through practice and they now know the HOW and WHAT to coach.
