What a week end full of amazing games to watch!

Not only it was happening in Sydney where one of the HSBC World Rugby 7’s series is taking place, or in Europe where the RBS Six Nations games are going on. Here in Rwanda, the second week of the National league was more than just interesting, the new comers shown that they can change the expectations of many of the teams, I am talking about the Rusizi resilience which surprised the experienced Muhanga RFC on a win of 34-6 at their home ground in Rusizi. Not only the Muhanga team, but also many people did not expect the amazing performance from the Resilince RFC lads.

The first half ended with Muhanga RFC leading by 5-6 after two penalties well converted by IRADUKUNDA Emmanuel and HAKIZIMANA Laurien respectively.

This was the last time for Muhanga to score any points, because the host came with different strategies and start to dominate in the scrum and almost all the line outs were won. The five tries of Rusizi were scored and well converted by NGABIJUMUREMYI Frederic who was on form and did the same thing and scored another one, MAKWANI Joel, ZARANYIMANA Jean Pierre and the last one was scored by the team captain UFITIMFURA Donatien.

Rusizi Resilience therefore is now in the second place with 5 points.

The same week end 6/2/2016, in Kigali at the UTEXRWA ground, the Kigali Sharks RFC hosted the Remera Buffaloes who seem to start the league with big margin scores.

The Kigali Sharks started pretty good with possession in the first 15 minutes, and after, the Buffaloes took the lead with their experienced side, they managed to score as many tries as they could, the Sharks players tried to stop them but could not, the quick scrum half IKORUKWISHAKA Patrick, was outstanding and scored 3 tries and many offloads, MAKOMBE Benjamin was also on fire, he added 3 more tries, KAMALI Vincent, IRADUKUNDA Ombeni, HAKALI Jean Paul, and ZIBO also scored one each to make the total of 10 tries in which 5 of them were coverted well by NDUWAYEZU Emmanuel Jason. The final score was 62-0 against the Kigali Sharks RFC.

On Sunday 07/02/2016, the Thousand Hills RFC also hosted the Nyamirambo based Lions de Fer at the UTEXRWA ground. The game was very physical but tactical, in the first half it was difficult to determine which team is going to win the match, even though it ended with the Thousand Hills leading by 6-0 after 2 penalties against the Lions well converted by ISIMBI Carlos. The same in the second half, the Lions kept using their heavy pack players doing different pick and gos to make the ground, but the defense was well formed and made it hard to pass through, after ten minutes of the second half, KASANGA David penetrated in the Lions 22 and overrun the full back to put the T-Hills on a 13-0 lead. The Lions kept pushing and on 3 different foul play by the T-Hills boys UMUHIRE Victorien converted the 3 of them and narrowed the score to 13-9. The game then, became interesting just before 20 minutes to the end of the game IRUMVA Fils Fidel, the young winger of T-Hills made a magnificent run and scored just in the middle of the posts, thereafter KASANGA David scored another try and SHEMA Serge on the last minute to make the final score 32-9. The Thousand Hills RFC is now topping the league with 9 points followed by Remera Buffaloes  RFC and Rusizi Resilience which have 5 points each and Puma RFC of Kamonyi which has  points.
